Guyana’s resident arrested in connection to murder incident of 2022

Georgetown, Guyana: A Guyana man arrested who was wanted in connection with the September 2022 murder. It is to be noted that the apprehension of the accused took place on Friday when the father of the victim, who witnessed the incident spotted the suspect. 

The accused has been identified as Shawn Thomas alias ‘Troy Richards’ and the victim has been identified as 22-year-old Ray Narain a resident of Spring Garden, Essequibo Coast.

As per the details, Thomas is accused of shooting Ray Narain at Sand Hill Backdam in Regioin #7 on 22nd September 2024. According to the reports, the accused has been on the run since the incident took place and Elton Narain, the father of the victim who witnessed the murder saw Shawn Thomas on Friday and immediately alerted the police and reported the news.

Upon receiving the news, the authorities responded immediately to the matter and arrested the accused. Moreover, it was mentioned by the officials that the suspect has a commitment warrant for two years imprisonment for unlawful possession of firearm/ammunition. 

Various residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views about the incident. 

One person with a Facebook account Amanda S Persaud commented “You can run from man but you can’t run from God.”

Another person with a Facebook account Mohanie Sukhdeo commented the following “Justice for the family suffering the death of their loved one. all moon runs until daylight catches up. And all the wealth he accumulated during his hide-and-seek business. Compensates his victim’s family with it.”

“He looks like a problem. Who gave him a gunman, he doesn’t deserve bail. Rip to the victim,” wrote another person. 

The citizens of Guyana have requested the authorities to take stringent measures to curb the increasing crime rates. The authorities have also promised to maintain the safety and security of the nation.
