Cherriel Fredricks, a 48-year-old lady, who is a resident of East Bank Essequibo, Guyana was hospitalised because four of her fingers were severed in a cutlass attack.
The lady was brutally attacked by her husband Micheal McClennon, a 43-year-old who is identified as a farmer of Parika Backdam.
Notably, the incident took place at Parika Backdam around 6:30 hrs.
According to the information, Cherriel Fredricks and Micheal McClennon are common-law partners. Just three weeks ago, the victim had a misunderstanding with the suspect, which forced her to leave her home at Morshee, East Bank Essequibo; following which, she went to her sister, Lorna Richard, who is 58 years old and a resident of Parika Backdam.
As per the news, the suspect used to work where his wife was staying. So, he went to her wife and requested her to return back to home to resolve their conflict.
However, the victim refused to leave, which made the suspect angry. The suspect held onto the victim’s hand to pull her out of the yard. This incident resulted in the woman lashing out with a rolling pin, on the suspect’s head.
The victim’s daughter brought in the cutlass, which the suspect seized and he used that to cut the victim’s left hand, due to which the woman was injured severly.
Subsequently, the suspect tried to run away from the spot by throwing away the cutlass in the surrounding trench. However, the neighbours caught the suspect and tied him up.
Thus, Fredricks was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, while the suspect was taken to the Parika Police Station.
The doctors on duty thoroughly examined the victim and then shifted her to West Demerara Regional Hospital, where she was admitted.
Police officials in Guyana are investigating this matter.
People reacted to this incident:
The first person commented: Good job, neighbours. Thank God. She is alive too, or was minus one more woman. I know what is wrong with some men. Ms. like she is the last woman on earth. Move on and love again, man.
Another person commented: My goodness! Another? Again? This is happening way too often. It’s becoming a habit. Wish her a speedy recovery.
Someone commented: And things like these will continue to happen because the justice system is not good.
