Guyana: Prez Irfaan Ali meets representatives from various sectors, discusses important issues
President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali, met with the executive members of the Guyana National Rifle Association at the State House.

Georgetown, Guyana: President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali, met with the executive members of the Guyana National Rifle Association at the State House. Among the members included the head of the association, the Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Godfrey Bess.
According to the Association’s Honorary Secretary, Ryan Sampson, the meeting is a follow-up to discussions held with President Ali in early September. The team presented plans for the location of a new range to be built in time for the hosting of the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championship slated for Guyana in 2024.
Earlier, Dr Irfaan Ali met an investment group from Peru at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive. Discussions between the visiting investors and the President surrounded the advancement of a pilot project to use satellite and telecommunications to advance the education sector in the hinterland and the use of drone technology for the delivery of medication and other services to far-reaching areas.
President Ali was joined by Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Ashni Singh; the Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand; Director of Presidential Affairs, Marcia Nadir-Sharma and Advisor to the Health Minister, Dr Leslie Ramsammy.
On the same day, Dr Irfaan Ali met with the Governor of Rotary District 7030, Leslie Ramdhanny and the Assistant Governor for rotary clubs in Guyana, Elizabeth Cox, at the Office of the President.
Rotary International is a global service organisation with a focus on community enhancement. There are some 46,000 member clubs worldwide with a combined membership of approximately 1.4m. District 7030 includes over 15 countries, from Suriname to Guadeloupe. Guyana, which falls within this district, has seven clubs, five of which are in Georgetown and two in Berbice. Director of Presidential Affairs Marcia Nadir-Sharma was also at the meeting.
