Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali, on the evening of April 20, 2022 (Wednesday), attended the launch of the International Building Expo 2022 at the Pegasus Hotel.
The event was held under the theme ‘ A New Frontier for Building a One Guyana”. The attendees of the event were members of the Government, including the Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, members of the Diplomatic Corps and numerous private sector representatives.
Building Expo 2022 has been scheduled to run from July 22 to July 24, 2022, at the National Stadium in Providence. Following the feature address, President Ali also unveiled a 3D Map of the venue, as per the reports.
President Dr Irfaan Ali also met with a high-level team from the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on April 20.
The team was led by its newly appointed Executive Director, Ansari Hosein and the Chief Executive Officer of CARDI’s commercial subsidiary, Maurice Wilson. CARDI’s local representative, Jhaman Kundun, was also among the attendees of the meeting.
During the meet, President Ali reminded the team that CARICOM has identified agriculture as a key component of development for the region with a priority on food security. He also spoke about the Agri-Investment Forum and Expo in May and the global interest that surrounds it.
The Head of State was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha.
Furthermore, President Dr Irfaan Ali met with the Chairman of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), Dr Wendell Samuel, and the CDF CEO, Rodinald Soomer, at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre this afternoon.
The CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) is an institution of the Caribbean Community that was established in 2008 whose mandate is to provide financial or technical assistance to disadvantaged countries, regions and sectors in the Community.
