Guyana police launches probe on murder of 56-year-old man by his brother in law
The Police officials of Guyana are investigating into alleged murder of 56-year-old, John Jones, resident of Block 22 Squatting area, Wismar, Linden.

The Police officials of Guyana are investigating the alleged murder of 56-year-old, John Jones, resident of Block 22 Squatting area, Wismar, Linden.
The murder took place on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at around 16:00 hrs. The two suspects have been identified as a 43-year-old Labourer and a 53-year-old driver. Both are the residents of Prosville, Wismar and are the brothers of the Jones wife, Tracy.
As per the enquiries, “Jones and his wife’s brothers never had any problem prior. But on 30th December, the victim and his wife had a misunderstanding which resulted in an argument. Subsequently, the victim’s wife called her brothers and asked them to take her and her three children along with them away from their home.”
The details further added that, “Her brothers entered the yard, where the victim was waiting with two cutlasses in his hands. He instantly attacked the brothers of his wife. He dealt one of the suspects to chop to the back of his head on the other hand, he dealt the other suspect a chop to the right side of his face. The fight between Jones and his brother in laws resulted in several chops on his body as one of the suspects relieved him of cutlass.”
One of his brothers-in-law, went to the Wismar Police Station, where he reported the matter. Both the brothers later went to the Linden Hospital Complex where they both are being examined by doctors and admitted as a patient. The doctors have pronounced their condition as serious.
The dead body of John Jones was found lying at the back of his yard, with several chop wounds around his body. He was wearing blue three-quarter pants and a black vest. The body was later taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was announced as dead by the doctors on duty. The body is currently lying at the G. Jetsco Funeral home.
The police is waiting for the autopsy report, which will be conducted on Wednesday, 3rd January, 2024.
The residents of Guyana commented on this matter, one comment read as “Need more brother like them, defend your sisters.” While the other person commented “I see that they want to rescue their sister and her children.”
