Guyana: 51-yr-old businesswoman assaulted on rejecting proposition

Guyana: A recent case of assault on Holly Monderson, a 51-year-old businesswoman, on Thursday at Issano Landing, Middle Mazaruni, has angered the residents of the region. Monderson was assaulted after she rejected a proposition by a man on the road.

The authorities of Regional Division #7 are investigating the matter and have shared that they have arrested the suspect. The identity of the assaulter has not been revealed yet.

The authorities shared that on 25^th April while Holly Monderson, the victim, was standing outside the mining camp when she was approached with a proposition by the assaulter. She promptly negated the proposition made by the suspect.

The rejection annoyed the suspect, to which he started attacking the businesswoman. The attack caused severe injuries on the face and body of the 51-year-old lady.

The incident was immediately reported to the police authorities of Regional Division #7, and the victim was taken to Issano Health Centre, where she received treatment from the on-duty doctors.

Later, Monderson was referred to the Bartica Hospital for further medical attention due to the severity of her wounds.

The Police took immediate action by reaching the scene and arresting the suspect. The authorities are looking for evidence that could help in further investigation and have urged the residents to come forward for help.

The netizens have lauded the efforts of the police but have expressed rage on the act committed by the assaulter. Citizens are concerned about the safety and security of women in society if people with such a mindset exist.
