Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: Mikyle Louis, who is all set to become the first ever Kittitian to represent West Indies on a tour against England received national recognition. The administration of St. Kitts and Nevis in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and the Creative Economy honoured the player for his exceptional achievements.

Notably, the Ministry of Sports of St Kitts and the Federal Cabinet granted $10,000 as a token of appreciation and love for his remarkable talent and the significant milestone he has created in the field of cricket. Along with that the government approves certain recommendations in order to honour the player.

The Federal Cabinet has named the South Stands at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium and named a road in his honour. They have also allocated a parcel of land to the player for recognizing the outstanding performance of the cricketer. The administration lauded him for his unwavering commitment and dedication and called him an “inspiration” for young athletes who aspires to achieve international success.

Mikyle Louis was born on 19th August 2000; he is a talented right-handed batter. His elegant stroke play and patience at the crease have earned him place in the West Indies Cricket Team. His selection was announced following his outstanding performance in West Indies Championship 2024. Mikyle was the highest run-scorer, scoring 682 runs from 14 innings in 7 games at an average rate of 48.71.

During the championship, the player scored 3 centuries with 2 of them scoring in a single match at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium. Also, Mikyle surpassed 50 runs for more than four times, which shed light on the consistency of the player in the entire tournament. His exceptional form led to his historic selection for the West Indies Test squad for the Richards-Botham series.

The citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis are anticipating and hoping for the player to form a new opening partnership with Kraigg Brathwaite, test captain of the team during their tour against England. For the same, the administration of the island nation extended best wishes to the player. The first game of the tour will be played on 10th July at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.
