Trinidad and Tobago: The Frontier Airlines welcomed its inaugural flight to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday. The Airbus A320-200 aircraft landed at Piarco International Airport with 95 passengers and launched its nonstop services between the two islands.
The US-based ultra-low fare carrier will operate its services on three days i.e. Sundays, Thursday and Fridays between the Piarco International Airport and Puerto Rico’s Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport. Trinidad was added to the list of Frontier Airline as its 12th Caribbean destination on 2 May.
The Minister of Tourism of Trinidad and Tobago, Randall Mitchell welcomed the inaugural flight by Frontier Airlines to island nation. While shedding light on this expansion, he added that these services would provide increased convenient connections to all the travellers who are eager to experience the rich cultural offerings of Trinidad and Tobago.
He asserted that the services of Frontier Airlines could aid in passenger arrivals to Trinidad and Tobago returning to a pre-covid pandemic, especially the airline will add more than 2000 seats monthly. The tourism minister added that the airline will increase the number of tourists to the country which will benefit several other sectors as well.
The large number of visitors to the country expands the businesses of other sectors including, hospitality, transportation, manufacturing and many more. He further added that tourists from diverse regions will also get a platform to enjoy the beautiful attractions and vibrant offerings of the country.
Moreover, the Ministry of Works and Transport of Trinidad and Tobago also noted that this new route marks the beginning of three weekly flights connecting these vibrant destinations. They also added that they are thrilled to expand their travel options and strengthen their global connections.
They also noted that they will continue to negotiate sustainable partnerships with more international carriers, paving the way for even more exciting options for visitors.
The senior director of network planning at Frontier Airlines, Jonathan Kaufman expressed his excitement for the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. He further asserted that San Juan, Puerto Rico can be used as a gateway to several destinations in the US such as Miami, New York, Tampa, Orlando and many others.
He also mentioned that the adding the operations of ultra-low fares to the local aviation market will play a huge role in stimulating the demand for more carriers to come and experience what Trinidad and Tobago has to offer.
