Barbados Water Authority (BWA) advises residents and businesspersons that its Field Services Team will be in the St. Thomas parish on Friday, July 26, installing a meter at Canefield. This work is scheduled to begin at 1 pm and run until 5 pm.

During this period, the Barbados Water Authority will be experiencing low and/or no levels of water supply in several areas within the parish of St. Thomas, including Canefield, Mount Misery, Porey Spring, Church Gap, Highway D, Highway C, Yearwood Road, Plum Tree, Blunts, Airy Cot, White Hill, Mose Bottom, Turners Hall, and areas around.

Affected residents and businesses are advised to store an adequate supply to offset the inconvenience in case of the unplanned service outage.

The BWA would like to apologize for this inconvenience caused to its customers and any other disturbance in their daily activities. This is very important as stressed by the authority, since it has been part of the ongoing improvements of the water management and service delivery within the region.

“We do appreciate that these water service interruptions are inconvenient, and we thank all customers for their cooperation and understanding,” said a spokeswoman for the BWA. “The meter being installed is an essential part of the process to improve the effectiveness and reliability of our water distribution network with benefits extending to all our customers.”

It is urged that residents ensure they have stored sufficient water to satisfy their own basic needs during the period. The BWA encourages persons to fill their containers, and storage equipment with adequate water that will see them through at least household requirements for drinking, cooking, and washing.

This notice is intended to allow residents sufficient time in which to prepare and to lessen the effect of any inconvenience that might result from the shutting off the water supply. The BWA wants to pledge to be open in communication with its customers, and it will keep updating if a change in the scenario appears or for any other required information.

The BWA apologizes for the inconvenience, if any, caused during this work. The BWA is committed to ensuring that its customers receive the best possible service and extends thanks for the public’s patience and cooperation. Members of the public can contact the BWA’s customer service department for further information or assistance.
