Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A 61-year-old farmer was kidnapped and robbed in Barrackpore on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. The incident occurred when the victim was out on his evening strolls in his garden along Wilson Road at Barrackpore when a vehicle pulled up alongside him.
As per reports, the two-armed men came out of their vehicle robbed the farmer of his cash and valuables. They also forced the farmer into starting his truck, and took off in it.
While speaking to the police, the farmer stated that the robbers took him along, but then dragged him out of the vehicle near Poui Trace in St Mary’s Village.
In due course of time, the suspects fled from the crime scene, and the victim made a report to the police. A team of officers led by CPL Teeluck responded and are continuing inquiries.
As soon as this news spread on social media platforms, many people shared their opinions regarding the matter. One such person by the name of Clifford Ropnarine commented,
“Many years ago, Trinidad was a Paradise. Now, the country is controlled by criminals. You would think of a country with over 250 churches. The people would be Godfearing. I am so happy the farmer was not killed.
Another person named as Rita Ali wrote, “There is no one to curd the crime in this country people have to see for themselves we the taxpayers paying this government and not getting no protection, crimes is flooding in this place Pnm an Unc don’t care they are protected so who care about the small man.”
Additionally, some days ago, police arrested five suspects in connection with a reported robbery incident, which was held in the Northern Division.
Notably, the officials seized three firearms and a quantity of ammunition during the exercise conducted by them.
As soon as police reached the crime scene, they arrested five men who fit the description of suspects who were involved in a robbery of Northern Division.
Officials also discovered One Glock 48 pistol, one Samsung phone and a bunch of keys. The investigation of the matter is still ongoing.
