Guyana: Labour Ministry launches technical, vocational programmes from Region 5, 6, 9, 10
Guyana: More than four hundred residents from Regions 5, 6, 9, and 10, witnessed the launch of several technical and vocational programmes.

Guyana: More than four hundred residents from Regions 5, 6, 9, and 10, witnessed the launch of several technical and vocational programmes, spearheaded by Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour and senior officials of the Board of Industrial Training.
Today, residents of Santa Rosa and Waramuri villages, region one, will be commencing five training programmes. Thirty-six (36) residents, comprised of twenty-eight (28) males and eight (8 ) females, will soon commence Upholstery, Mechanic and Block Making. At Waramuri village, eighteen (18) females and twelve (12) males will pursue Commercial Food Preparation and Electrical Installation.
The registration of the residents came after weeks of seeking interested persons to get on board the BIT programmes, securing training facilities and instructors, carried out assigned technical officers within the district.
A cheque was presented to Toshao of Santa Rosa, Stravos Stanley, by BIT’s Technical Officer, Mohammed Shaheed, to procure training materials, along with the preparation and signing of an agreement by instructors who will teach prospective trainees the art of Block making.
A similar cheque handing over exercise was carried out between BIT’s officer and representatives of Waramuri Village Council to purchase training materials.
At the end of the programme’s launch, Minister Hamilton presented certificates to nine (9) female graduates of Santa Rosa who successfully completed Cosmetology, which commenced in 2021 and ended in April 2022.
Accompanying the minister on the activities earlier today is Technical Officers Mohammed Shaheed and Rooplall Lokenauth, Region One, Vice Chairman, Anansha Peters, Assistant Regional Executive Officer (AREO), Basil Corneilus and Toshaos of Santa Rosa and Waramuri villages, Stravos Stanley and Vivian Edwards, respectively.
