Roseau, Dominica: Chief Executive Officer of the International Airport Development Company – Samuel Johnson, recently shared an update on the ongoing construction at the airport site in Wesley. As per the information shared by CEO Johnson, a laboratory is built near the site, which will be helpful in determining the type of soil, concrete and asphalt.
He also informed the public of Dominica that the laboratory would be facilitated via Geotech studies. According to the information shared by the CEO, the newly constructed laboratory will help in quality control tests – which are regarded as one of the major parts of the oversight function.
He also revealed that the construction is ongoing at the site of the International Airport of Dominica. He revealed that a few months back, the nation welcomed several pieces of equipment and personnel from China Railway Number 5 Engineering Group. As per CEO Johnson, the site was surveyed by the team of China Railway Number 5 Engineering Group in early January. The team reviewed the future plans and also interaction with the key stakeholders.
He also outlined that the CR5 team has arrived in the island country. As per CEO Johnson, the team has analysed documents through the tender process and has also surveyed some of the preliminary geo-tech work.
Furthermore, he outlined that the construction process has been going as per plan and in the upcoming times, more equipment will be delivered so that the project is completed in the quickest time possible. Johnson also noted that his team has been working closely with the developers to make sure that the plans are executed properly.
CEO Samuel Johnson has also outlined that the government of Dominica has been making sure the locals are engaged as much as possible. At the same time, he highlighted several aspects of the International Airport, mentioning that a total of 2850 meters of runway length had been acquired for the project’s construction, roughly 9300 feet.
While concluding his message, he outlined that the team has been showcasing excellent teamwork and outlined that his team has been working as per proper guidelines with a 60-meter by 60-meter grid to ensure that the airport gets completed within the stipulated period of time.
