Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire congratulated sprinter Julien Alfred for setting a new national record and winning gold in the women’s event at the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica. Minister Hilaire shared this proud achievement of Julien Alfred through his social media handles.

Julien Alfred, world indoor 60m champion has been making the country proud by continuously breaking the records and setting new benchmarks. At the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica, she covered the 100m run in 10.78 seconds, which is considered as her best.

Minister Ernest Hilaire took to his social media to share congratulatory message for this spectacular performance by Saint Lucia’s pro athlete Julien Alfred. He wrote, “Julien Alfred continues to break records and make us proud. Congratulations from Ciceron, Castries South, and the entire country”.


Continuing the celebrations of the achievement marked by sprinter Julien, the Office of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia also shared wishes on the historic moment for all the country. “Julien Alfred has set a new 🇱🇨national record and won gold in the women’s 100m event at the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica.” The office also shared the video of the event and said, “Relive the moment when Julien Alfred made history by setting a new national record in the women’s 100m”.

Julien Alfred has been showing her athletic skills and stamina on the ground and has been consistently winning several track dash events. Recently, the sprinter won a silver medal in the Prefontaine Classic. She made a national record by recording a season-best time of 10.93 in the women’s 100m sprint.

Also, at the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon she secured second position in the 100m sprint.

Minister Ernest Hilaire has always supported Julien Alfred by constantly boosting her confidence and giving her the accolades she deserves for bringing laurels to the nation. To celebrate the remarkable achievements, the government also arranged a welcome ceremony for the sprinter Julien Alfred after she won gold in the World Athletics Indoor Championship 2024. Julien Alfred also women gold in women’s 200m at the Mt. SAC Relays in California, with a record time of 22.58s.
