‘Icon of the Seas’ arrives in St Kitts, PM Drew shares glimpses

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared glimpses of the arrival of the world’s largest cruise ship, ‘Icon of the Seas’ in St Kitts. He extended a vote of thanks to Tourism Minister Marsha T Henderson for her tireless efforts to enhance the tourism sector.
PM Drew took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to express his delight at this epic moment. He thanked the Royal Caribbean for its support and partnering with the nation.
“My dear people, here she comes- Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship. This is a very proud moment for our Federation. Let’s all make this an epic one.
Thanks to Hon. Marsha T. Henderson and the Ministry of Tourism for their hard work. Thanks to Royal Caribbean for partnering with us”, added the leader of St Kitts and Nevis.
Moreover, the Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson, expressed her excitement and joy for the arrival of Ship.
While lauding the Ship-making company, she added, “This endorsement marks a pivotal turning point of our tourism industry, as it propels St Kitts to the forefront, ensuring that our destination is regarded as an essential stop in the itinerary of discerning travellers.”
Icon of the Seas
The world’s largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas by Royal Caribbean, embarked on its first journey from the Port of Miami on Sunday. The 365-meter-long ship has 20 decks and can accommodate a maximum of 7,600 passengers.
The Royal Caribbean’s largest cruise boasts a length of almost 1,200 feet from bow to stern. It is owned by Royal Caribbean Group and is five times larger than the Titanic.
According to the Royal Caribbean, the Icon of the Seas is 24 per cent more energy efficient than required by the International Maritime Organization for modern ships.
“The Icon of the Seas is the most sustainable ship to date”, added Royal Caribbean.
The Ship is going on a seven-day island-hopping voyage in the Caribbean and has seven swimming pools, six water slides, 40 restaurants, 2,805 rooms, bars and lounges.
Features of Icon of the Seas
From luxurious rooms to exclusive restaurants, this cruise is truly a Marvel of the Seas. On this new record-breaking Ship, there will be more entertainment than ever. Some of her features are as follows,
Aqua Dome: This new site in the cruise offers a unique performance space and allows never-seen-before elements. The two main shows will be ‘Aqua Action’ and ‘Pirates vs Mermaids.’
Royal Theatre- Icon of the Seas has been offering a traditional theatre experience. Unlike many cruise lines, which have moved away from traditional theatre and Broadway-style performances, Royal Caribbean is doubling down. In addition to shows and comedies, guests can also see two major productions here: ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Showband! Live Music Now.’
Apart from this, there will be many fun activities for the guests, which will make their trip memorable. Additionally, the Ship was manufactured in Finland by a Ship making company named Royal Caribbean International.
