Caribbean: On Tuesday morning, several Caribbean nations felt tremors of earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.4.
The Trinidad and Tobago-based Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the University of West Indies have notified that no immediate injury or damage because of the earthquake has been reported.
According to the preliminary information, the tremors were felt at 4:03 am and were located at Latitude: 16.74N, Longitude: 61.35W and at a depth of 19 kilometres.
According to SRC, the tremor was felt 58 km northeast of Point-à-Pitre, the capital of the French island of Guadeloupe, 69 km south east of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda and 60 km north of the Dominican capital, Roseau.
A weather expert, José R. Ribeiro, informed about the tremors through social media. The tweet by the expert read, “Ten minutes ago, M5.0 earthquake widely felt in Guadeloupe, Antigua, Montserrat, Dominica and Nevis St. Kitts, in the Leeward Islands.”

José R. Ribeiro also informed about the earthquake tremors felt in various other countries at the same time. While informing about the tremors felt in Jakarta and Singapore, he tweeted, “M6.9 earthquake along the Sumatran fault caused great damage in Liwa, South Sumatra: 207 people killed and 75,000 homeless. Felt as far as Jakarta and Singapore on 15 February 1994 17:08 UT (00:08 of 16th LT)”.
