The universities in Afghanistan yet did not open their doors for the students. Taliban-led administration cited economic crisis and co-ed education as the reasons behind this.
The minister of higher education, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, made the remark on Sunday, further adding that the government needs extra time and money for making separate classes for girls and hiring additional lecturers.
Since co-education has been banned since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, strictly announcing that female students would no longer sit with their male classmates in the universities.
The school enterprises for girls were shut by the authorities; however, government later opened schools for girls in 7 provinces.
The life of women in the Islamic state is becoming miserable day by day as the Taliban puts stringent restrictions on education, travel, and on the choice of clothes too.
Recently, the spokesperson of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Sadeq Akif Muhajir, informed that Afghan women would not be permitted to travel unless they are being accompanied by their close male relative.
The minister said, “Women travelling for more than – 45 miles (72 kilometres) should not be offered a ride if they are not escorted by a close family member”.
Not only this, but Afghan girls are being sold by their parents in return to obtain money as they battle every day to live amid poverty. It seems like the rights of women are on the verge to get vanishing in the Islamic state.
Women are just treated as a tool in Afghanistan. Despite warnings given by the United Nations, there is no women minister in the Afghanistans’ Cabinet.
The previous week only, the election commission of the nation has also been demolished by the Taliban, adding that if the administration would feel the requirement to establish one, they will.
