Dominica: Govt shares update on Layou Road Reconstruction Project
The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica shared a glimpse of the ongoing construction work at Layou Road.

Roseau, Dominica: The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica shared a glimpse of the ongoing construction work at Layou Road. The Government shared a video of reconstruction work, which has been carried out at a full pace. “Layou Road Reconstruction Project – Road Resurfacing Works February 23, 2023,” the Dominican Government informed.
Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, also proudly shared a glance at the reconstruction project. The update by the Government and the prime minister was praised by many people, and some even took the comment section to laud the Government and its continuous efforts towards the development of the country.
“Thanks to the Government of Dominica, I appreciate,” wrote one of the social media users, while another mentioned, “Great job, big up to my Government Leadership is everything”, and the third one noted, “You know this is excellent news not only for Dominica but indeed for the farming community that earns its livelihood in the area. It is also a good touristy, scenic route. I anticipate to the continuation of that road from the York Valley Bridge (Glo sho bridge) to the Sultan/Warner junction. Congratulations, and a way to go, PM.”
According to the update shared by the Government of Dominica, the Layou Road Project has been costing over eleven million dollars. This road has been counted as the third component of the Layou Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Project, and as per the authorities, it is expected that it will be completed and operational within the span of twelve months. It is worth noting that the road will be connecting two major bridges of the nation – the Hillsborough Bridge and the York Valley Bridge.
As per the update by the Government, the road project will be completed in two phases, which will be the rehabilitation and (re)construction of the four-kilometre road, along with elements of the river draining works. Besides this, river defence structures will be constructed at four critical locations.
