Central Division officers seizes $300k worth marijuana in Couva
The officers of Central Division seized five kilograms of marijuana and a quantity of ammunition during the intelligence-led exercise in Couva on Tuesday.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The officers of Central Division seized five kilograms of marijuana and a quantity of ammunition during the intelligence-led exercise in Couva on Tuesday. PC Marshall is continuing inquiries.
According to the police statement, the officials of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF) of Area South received information about the presence of drug block in the surrounding areas of Railway Road in Couva.
They responded to the matter and conducted an intelligence-led exercise near the area. During the investigation, they found a green backpack near the riverbank area. They examined the bag and recovered nine black rectangular packages that contained high-grade marijuana.
They became suspicious of the area and further searched the place thoroughly and seized 15 packages of varying sizes, which contained high-grade marijuana.
The investigating officers then discovered 15 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, along with a plastic bag, which contained a vacuum seal machine, two scales, and a quantity of plastic bags.
Furthermore, the ranks collected the items and took them to Couva Police Station for weighing. The marijuana weighed 5.44 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $300,000, along with the ammunition and the other items collected by them.
The inquiries are ongoing under the leadership of PC Marshall. The authorities urged the public to come forward with any information and assist them in their investigation.
It is to be noted that this exercise was coordinated by Senior Supt Simon, Supt Baird, Supt Gyan, ASP Ablacksingh, and Inspector Sylvan, along with the members of the CDTF, Area Sout, and the K9 Unit.
The Department of Police is receiving appreciation from the people for their untiring hard work and dedication to maintaining peace in society. “Well done to you all for great teamwork and continue to hold strong. God’s blessings”, quoted one.
