Cheddi Jagan International Airport witnessed a remarkable increase of 22% in the arrival of passengers as compared to the last year. The major reason behind this surge is called out to be the hosting of several exciting and thrilling matches of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

As per the details shared by Cheddi Jagan International Airport, it has processed around 27,580 passengers from 1st to 25th June which is 5000 more as compared to 2023. The excitement continues to build as the nation is all set to host the much awaited second semi-final clash between India and England today.

The Public Relations Officer of Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Shunza Samuels stated that they are delighted to be a part of the Cricket World Cup experience and welcome cricket fans from all over the world. He noted that the increase in the arrival of passengers showcases the immense and growing popularity of Guyana as a tourism destination.

He further asserted that their entire management team is extremely confident that all the cricket lovers visiting Guyana had and will continue to have an unforgettable experience in Guyana both on and off the field. This increase in the arrival of passengers has benefitted not only the Airport but the entire nation as a whole.

The Director of Guyana Tourism Authority, Kamrul Baksh also noted that the nation is experiencing a remarkable surge in tourism, especially during the cricket season. He further asserted that this season has been very exciting for them as they got a chance to display the vibrant culture, cuisines and traditions of the county to all their visitors.

He stated that this Cricket World Cup and particularly the semi-final is massive for the tourism sector of Guyana. As, the nation is being showcased again and many Indian and England cricket fans have ventured to the shores of the nation for this old rivalry.

Today, Guyana will host a highly anticipated Semi Finals 2 between India and England. For the same, the cricketers have touched down in Guyana and is ready to compete against each other at the National Providence Stadium. Also, the airport authorities are committed to make several constructions with a motive to cater to the needs and demands of all the passengers.
