Hillsborough, Carriacou: Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government expressed heartfelt welcome towards Carriacou athlete – Jamora Alves.
“A special welcome home ceremony was held for Carriacou athlete Jamora Alves,” mentioned the ministry.
As per the update by the government, she is a first-year student at the St John’s University in the United States and has been performing excellently in athletics; particularly in the area of discuss.
Alves who recently qualified to participate in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) competition is back home on vacation.
To recognize her for her outstanding performance within the last year, the Division of Sports within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs organized a welcome home ceremony for her, according to the information by the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government.
The athlete was welcomed by the Permanent Secretary Javan Williams. “Representing the Ministry was Permanent Secretary Javan Williams who congratulated her and asked that she share her experience thus far with other young aspiring athletes,” the ministry informed through social media post.
In addition to this, congratulatory messages were also poured by Sebastian Stiell, the Senior Coach. While congratulating, the coach praised Alves for her dedication and hardword and willingness to learn more skills.
“Also adding congratulatory messages was Senior Coach Sebastian Stiell who played a critical role in Alves earlier athletic years in Carriacou. Stiell said it is always good when athletes from humble beginnings can excel in the wider world,” the post read.
Alves was met by her mom Janelle George and other family members as she disembarked from the Osprey Shuttle.
