Caribbean: Fathers are indeed superheroes, and to honour them, the world celebrates World’s Father Day annually. Fathers are responsible for keeping their families physically as well as financially healthy. Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, and in 2022, it falls on June 19.
The day celebrates not only the fathers but also father figures who play an essential role in giving wings to our dreams.
On this super special day, the leaders of the Caribbean region took their social media to wish fathers around the world.
Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne stated, “Happy Father’s Day to all fathers who continue to protect, love and care for their children! We love and celebrate all fathers.” He also used the hashtag #protectourchildren with the fathers’ day post.
“Wishing a very Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers of our nation. For the love, guidance and protection provided to your families, we salute you,” Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit mentioned. He also wished for the day to be filled with joy.
Grenada Prime Minister Keith Mitchell shared a picture with the children of Grenada and asserted, “Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Remember, it’s important to stay connected and to interact consistently with your children. Do not underestimate the value of having simple conversations with children. Remember, even if you’re not their biological father, you can be a positive influence in their lives. I had the opportunity recently to meet with this group of students, and it was a very enjoyable experience. They are very aware of what’s going on around them and have many questions, not only about Grenada but global developments. So I encourage you today, let’s do our part as fathers to the children of this nation.”
Guyanese Prime Minister Dr Irfaan Ali shared a series of photographs and wished his father as well as fathers around the world. He wrote, “As I wish my father a Happy Father’s Day, I also recognise the countless fathers who played a role in my development and life. As a country, we must uplift every father and all those who assume the role of a fatherly figure. We recognise the tremendous role you all play in the development of our society. May God continue to bless all of you.”
“Daddy continues to be one of my favourite titles to date. Thank you for all the wonderful lessons and the joy that you bring to my life. To all the fathers, our children and our country need us. May we bring honour to this privilege that God has bestowed upon us. Happy Father’s Day,” St Lucia Prime Minister Philip J Pierre penned down while extending the warm wishes.
