Guyana is a land of many beautiful places, luxurious hotels or resorts and rainforests. One of them is Sakaika Falls, which is an undiscovered and unexplored destination.
Nestled amidst the lush rainforests of Region 7, this waterfall is a largely unexplored natural wonder which tumbles majestically down the Ekereku River. Travellers can reach the place by travelling about 15 miles from the airstrip.
It is to be noted that one can reach Sakaika Falls by their preferred choice of vehicle, Motorcycle or ATV, because of the rough terrain.
Ways to board Sakaika Falls
To get to Sakaika Falls, travellers have to board a plane from Eugene Correia International Airport in Ogle in East Coast Demerara. The flight will take 45 minutes to the Ekereko Bottom Landing Strip.
After that, a person needs to travel 2 hours by motorcycle or ATV to the falls, where they can pitch a tent and spend the night.
Tucked away on the Ekereku River, this hidden gem is waiting to be discovered by the adventurous traveller. With stunning views and untouched nature, Sakaika Falls is a must for anyone seeking an unforgettable experience.
Additionally, Guyana has more than 300 major waterfalls and rapids, as well as countless smaller falls, including the breathtaking Kaieteur and much smaller Orinduik Falls.
Other waterfalls of this island nation are well hidden from occasional travellers. But the pristine forest still covers most of the country, and countless waterfalls are not available to hasty tourists.
There are still quite a few places that have most likely not been visited by anyone at all.
Perhaps one of the most intimate and underrated travel destinations, Guyana sits on the shoulder of South America; most visitors to Guyana head deep into the jungle of the interior.
However, travelling through this country is no mean feat because it is home to a mere clutch of roads and just one main highway.
Despite its profusion of pristine rainforest, larger-than-life wildlife and cultural heritage with roots across the globe, Guyana is one of those.
