Assailant shot one teenager to death and other hospitalized in Jamaica
Teenagers of Jamaica became the victim of a fatal shooting that took place on the Salt Spring main road in Hanover on Saturday, 6th April 2024. This shooting led to the death of a 19-year-old and injuries to a 13-year-old boy.

Hanover, Jamaica: Teenagers became the victim of a fatal shooting that took place on the Salt Spring main road in Hanover on Saturday, 6th April 2024. This shooting led to the death of a 19-year-old and injuries to a 13-year-old boy.
The 19-year-old victim who was shot has been identified as Keith Myrie alias ‘Junior’, of Green Island in the parish. The name and identity of the 13-year-old have not been revealed yet by the officers.
As per the reports shared by the authorities, Myrie was driving a motorcycle along the roadway and a 13-year-old was sitting beside him when the assailants in a group of motorcyclists drove up and opened gunfire at them.
Upon seeing those assailants and gunfire in their hands, the 19-year-old lost control of their motorcycle which resulted in a collision with the fence. Following the discovery of the incident, both teenagers were found with severe wounds from the gunshot.
Straight after that, both the victims were taken to the hospital where they both were examined thoroughly by doctors Myrie was pronounced dead and the 13-year-old was admitted to a hospital and is currently stable.
The Green Island Police are currently probing the matter in detail in order to get the culprit punished for the offence they committed.
Several residents of the community took to their official social media accounts and expressed their concern over the incident. One person commented, “So sad, prayers for his family and friends, it is really heartbreaking that people are getting killed so harshly, such criminals should be given strict punishment.”
Another person commented the following “Such criminals should be given strict punishment that these acts should not be repeated. The authorities need to take strict action against it.”
The residents of the community have requested the authorities to find those culprits and take serious action against them as they should not roam around freely. They have also urged the administration to implement serious measures, to ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
