Aruba Coast Guard arrests Dominican & Venzuelean national in drug trafficking
The Coast Guard officials of Aruba have detained two men, Venezuelan and Dominican, on the charge of drug trafficking on the eve of Christmas.

Oranjestad, Aruba: The Coast Guard officials of Aruba have detained two men, Venezuelan and Dominican, on the charge of drug trafficking on the eve of Christmas.
The officer spotted both of them in a boat, which was heading to Aruba island, the authorities of the Coast guard noted, adding that immediate action was taken, and the team was sent to intercept them.
On the interception of the boat, no illegal drugs were found. After which, Aruba Police Corps sent a helicopter to search an area near Arashi Beach, and that is when packages of drugs were seen floating in the water.
Both of them were arrested and are now under the custody of Aruba police.
Aruba is an island nation in the mid-south of the Caribbean Sea, about 29 kilometres (18 mi) north of the Venezuelan peninsula of Paraguaná and 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Curaçao.
Drug trafficking in Aruba:
The illegal trade of drugs is frequent in Aruba. It basically involves the trans-shipment of cocaine and other drugs through Aruba to the United States.
Drug trafficking through Aruba is a major issue. Although, the country was removed from the United States Department’s list of significant drug-producing and transit countries in 1999. The reason for this downfall is still unclear.
The first independent state of the mafia in the island country emerged in the year of 1993.
Drug trafficking remains one of the challenges for the Caribbean nations, as often the mafias’ trade illegal drugs such as – cocaine, heroin, and cannabis in the region.
Often news is heard of persons getting arrested in drug trafficking. Meanwhile, the governments of the islands’ have made stringent policies for entering the nations via sea route and the Coast Guard officials are kept on high alert so as to intercept any of the cases if found.
