Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne extended warm congratulation to the athletes who won medals during the CARIFTA Games.
Many Congratulations to our amazing young athletic medallists who recently participated in the CARFITA games in Jamaica and Barbados. The medallists, who were also accompanied by two coaches, attended Cabinet on Wednesday.
The government has agreed to build an Olympic size swimming pool so that our athletes can conduct adequate practice sessions and can expand their aquatic skills. The 14-year-old, who bagged gold in the swimming meet, displayed four additional medals, which he has recently won in international meets.
The females who also medalled introduced themselves to Cabinet, and each pledged to continue their outstanding performance in the years to come. The male athlete who topped the 100-meter race pledged to continue building his muscle and strength to exceed his competitors.
The few who joined us yesterday during the meeting of the Cabinet were: Geolyna Dowdy (U17 Girls 100M/200M); Gold Medallist in 100M); Osei Gardener (U17 Boys 200M/400M Finalist); Dwayne Flemming (U17 Boys 100M/200M; Alyssa Dyett (U20 Girls Triple Jump Bronze Medallist); Mia McIntosh (U20 Heptathlon); Ajani Daley (U20 Boys 100M/200M); and Ethan Stubbs-Green (Boys 400M freestyle Silver Medallist, 200 Freestyle Bronze Medallist, 100M Butterfly Gold Medallist, and 200M Butterfly Gold Medallist).
Special mention to Ellie Shaw (Girls 13-14 Breaststroke Bronze Medallist) and Craig Pendergast (U20 400M Hurdles, Bronze Medallist), who could not attended the event.
