An active tropical wave is to the east of Lesser Antilles: Eastern Caribbean Weather Update

Caribbean: Eastern Caribbean Weather Update has shared the expected weather condition on Sunday night around the Lesser Antilles region.

As per the latest update, an active topical wave is to the east of the Lesser Antilles. Rainbands ahead of it are expected to start bringing showers to Barbados and parts of the Windwards tonight to morning to Trinidad and the rest of Lesser Antilles by Monday afternoon.

The Eastern Caribbean Weather Update has also informed that an upper trough over the eastern Caribbean Sea will create more instability and upper-level divergence, which supports widespread cloudy to overcast skies, rain periods, pockets of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. There are enough dry air pockets, too, so we will also have some breaks.

A trade wind surge accompanies this system, so some strong gusty winds are expected, and locally rough seas are 7-10 ft. Potential for localized flood events, given recent rainfall in areas that see heavy showers.

Less rainfall from early Tuesday in Leewards, then north Windwards late Tuesday. But ITCZ with SE moist flow will keep showers and chance of thunderstorms in south Windwards and Trinidad till later Tuesday. There, supportive upper-level divergence will remain, so the chance for locally heavy showers and flash flooding will remain in those areas.

It is expected that between Wednesday and Thursday, the weather condition should be mainly fair, with dust haze and isolated brief showers.

Furthermore, it was predicted that next Friday to Sunday will have more chances for rainfall. 1 or 2 tropical waves, with upper-level support, are looking more likely in that period.
