Roseau, Dominica: Secret Bay and Coulibri Ridge resorts of Dominica have been named “15 Best Luxury Resorts and Hotels in the Caribbean” by AFAR.

With sustainability at the heart of their operations, these two resorts have once again shown that Dominica is an eco-luxury destination with unique experiences.

From its crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches to vibrant cultures, the Caribbean has long drawn travellers in search of paradise.

Notably, the sun-soaked Dominica is more than a beautiful backdrop- especially when it comes to the best hotels and resorts.

SECRET BAY

Secret Bay is located in the Dominican region. This all-villa Relais and Chateaux resort is committed to sustainability and conserving the surrounding forest.

This under-the-radar island makes big strides in environmental management.

Notably, Secret Bay is a 10-minute drive from Portsmouth, the second largest town on the island, which is hidden on the northwestern coast.

The 19 villas were responsibly built to not interrupt the surrounding rainforest, but luxuries, such as private pools and well-equipped kitchens, were not spared.

The resort offers a treehouse-style spa to the riverside yoga pavilion, and notably, it has created the Botanica Organic Garden and Chef’s Table, an open-air garden-to-fork culinary experience.

A just-launched energy-efficient funicular allows guests to take in the rainforest from new heights.

COULIBRI RIDGE

Coulibri Ridge is a sustainability-focused resort on a wildlife-filled Caribbean Island. The hotel was founded by the Quebecois entrepreneur Daniel Langlois, who fell in love with the island in 1997.

Notably, Ridge Resort was introduced in October 2022 on a hillside facing the forested Sulphur Spring Valley of Dominica.

It is to be noted that the opening is specific for green initiatives within the region as well as for the isolated, less visited island where low foot traffic means more opportunities to connect with nature and resident wildlife without crowds.

This luxurious resort is solar-powered, which is completely off the grid with a central bank storage system that ensures it will never be without power.

The 14 modular suites, fashioned out of hand-chiselled stone, showcase the recycled teak wood finishes and ceiling of 100 per cent recyclable, Mold-resistant aluminium.

Additionally, AFAR Media is a website and magazine that covers travel topics such as hotels, air travel, destinations, and outdoor adventures.
