7.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Haiti, death toll rising constantly

“Lots of homes are destroyed, people are dead, and some are at the hospital,” 21-year-old Christella Saint Hilaire, who lives near the epicentre, told. “Everyone is in the street now, and the shocks keep coming.”
Similar shakes were also felt in the majority of other Caribbean islands. In the southwestern area of Haiti, due to the earthquake, schools, as well as homes were collapsed. According to the viral photos of the incident. The civil protection agency of Haiti reported that due to the quake, they experienced the death of 227, up from an initial report of 29 life casualties.
According to the statement, the agency specified that 158 people got killed in the south area of the country that was also the epicentre of the earthquake. The report highlighted that many are wounded and also missing. Professional rescuers and members of the public have begun to pull many people out of the rubble. Hospitals continue to receive injured and fatalities.
Haiti has declared a state of emergency in response to the disaster, and a White House official said Us President Joe Biden asked to send “immediate” aid efforts to Haiti.
While adding that his country was ready to help, Joe Biden said, “In what is already a challenging time for the people of Haiti, I am saddened by the devastating earthquake. Assess the damage and assist efforts to recover those who were injured and those who must now rebuild.”
