St Kitts and Nevis General Elections to take place on August 5, 2022

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris has finally rung the bell and announced the date for general elections 2022. The general elections in the twin-island Federation will be held on August 5, 2022 (Friday). The announcement was made during the rally held on July 17, 2022 (Sunday) in the Tabernacle Village.

The nomination day for the election will be July 26, 2022 (Tuesday). While addressing the PLP rally, PM Timothy informed the public that the government has informed the Governor-General Sir SW Tapley Seaton last week, he also gave information about the recent developments with respect to the Constitutional prerogative of holding general elections 90 days after the abolition of Parliament.

Prime Minister Harris further stated, “We want to ensure that in our next term, we truly represent everybody. We will be a broad-based inclusive government in which Douglas, Labour people, and PAM can truly come and work and find love and support as they help us build the government.”

Furthermore, he updated about the successful campaign conducted by the People’s Labour Party. He outlined, “It is love that will be our winning message as we go house to house knocking doors and persuading the public to vote for the People’s Labour Party so that we can return to government with a historic victory, on eight seats”.

While praising the work of his party, he stated that PLP is the real protector of the people of St Kitts and Nevis as it is only party who has considered the issues of the residents and citizens and worked relentlessly to provide job to youth and uplift economy. He was quoted as, “We are the people’s champions; we will continue to work for the people because, for us, the honour of representation and the privilege of serving as the minister is one that we never take lightly.”

Moreover, he appealed the people to vote for PLP so that they win the general elections. Dr Harris mentioned, “Give me all eight seats; I need all eight seats to ensure a strong government; I need all eight seats so that we don’t go into another collision that forces us back again into premature elections.” PM Harris added to vote for PLP in number one, number two, number three, number four, number five, number six, number seven and number eight.

The general election will be conducted within various political parties, including the People’s Labour Party (PLP), led by Prime Minister Timothy Harris, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) led by Shawn K Richards, the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) led by Premier Mark Brantley St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), led by Dr Terrance Drew, and the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) led by Dr Janice Daniel-Hodge.
