LIAT called for the cancellation of flights on October 21, 2023, due to Hurricane “Tammy” and the closure of airports across the LIAT network.

LIAT Limited, known as the Leeward Islands Air Transport Services, is a Caribbean airline headquartered in Antigua and Barbuda.

The airline has stated that the passengers who have been impacted can rebook without paying any change fees.

The LIAT reservation call centre is closed and will reopen once the condition is under control in Antigua and Barbuda.

LIAT will provide additional updates and advisories on its website and social media platforms.

Notably, the airline apologised for the passengers’ trouble due to the cancellation of these flight services.

Moreover, not only on Saturday but many flights on Friday were also cancelled due to Tropical Storm Tammy, which caused many disruptions to the affected passengers.

The airline has cancelled flights to and from specific destinations, which are as follows:

  • Flight LI 392, which was supposed to go from Antigua to Dominica, was not operated as per schedule.
  • The flight LI 392 could not fly from Dominica to Barbados due to poor weather conditions.
  • Unfortunately, the flight LI 393 service from St. Vincent to Saint Lucia couldn’t operate as scheduled on Friday, 20th October,2023.
  • The LI 393 flight from Saint Lucia to Antigua couldn’t take off on Friday due to the impending passage of the Tropical Storm Tammy.

LIAT is keeping an eye on tropical storm Tammy in the Atlantic Ocean. The effects of Tammy, like heavy rainfall, strong winds, and high surf, are causing disruptions not only in airline scheduling but in other areas as well.

Tropical Storm Tammy has hit the Caribbean Barbuda as a category one hurricane, with winds of 85 mph. It’s moving north-northwest at ten mph; heavy rainfall and flooding are expected across the Lesser Antilles.

Furthermore, in the Caribbean, diverse ecosystems are teeming with tropical plants, trees and animals. When a hurricane sweeps over an island, it brings heavy rainfall and strong winds. The excessive rain saturates the soil, weakening it, while the tree canopies become burdened with extra weight.

Furthermore, this hurricane is causing a lot of difficulties for the natives of the Caribbean countries. May people quickly find relief from the troubles caused by this tropical storm, Tammy.
