Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Carnival Institute and Regional Carnival (CIRC) of Trinidad and Tobago shared a feature on two books of renowned author John EH Barry. It shared some brief about the books and noted that both the books provide educational as well as entertainment-related information.
The information about both books was shared by the CIRC on “Thursday Reads” through the official social media account.
It mentioned, “On this #ThursdayReads, we bring to you two books by author John E. H. Barry titled, “The Finalists Book: A Graphical Lookback at Trinidad & Tobago’s Calypso and Soca Monarch Finals”, Book 1 and Book 2. Both books deal primarily with the topic of Calypso and Soca Monarch Competitions held in Trinidad and Tobago, with Part 2 continuing where Book 1 leaves off.”
While briefing the general public about books and the vision of the writer while writing them, it asserted that the books are both entertaining and educational. “The variety of research and analytical views offered in these books are a crucial part of the information contained. Information from as early as 1939 – 2006 can be found in Book 1, and Book 2 continues from 2007, ending in 2016,” it asserted.
In addition to this, CIRC conveyed that on one level, the written material seeks to provide trustworthy sources of references that may be quickly and easily accessed by users. The books include presentations of relevant information on the participants in the competition as well as other fun facts on certain Calypso and Soca artists.
While praising, it outlined that the books are an option for a more in-depth and targeted investigation for those particularly interested in the topic of Calypso and Soca.
