Kittitians star players Jahzara Claxton and Carlon Bowen-Tuckett awarded contracts by CWI

St Kitts and Nevis cricket stars, Jahzara Claxton and Carlon Bowen-Tuckett have been awarded full-time, one-year academy contracts from Cricket West Indies which has been effective from October 1st, 2024.

These contracts awarded by Cricket West Indies is a part of their commitment towards nurturing the young talent in their region. And, this time, the association has awarded 15 male and 15 female emerging players respectively to ensure that they both are well-prepared, trained and equipped to represent the West Indies on a global stage.

While expressing excitement and pride on seeing two Kittitian players included in the list of contracts, the Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins took to his social media account and lauded both Jahzara Claxton and Carlon Bowen-Tuckett.

He stated that the entire nation is beaming with pride as two of their own players have achieved an incredible milestone in their sporting careers. The Minister also commended the unwavering hard work, dedication, and passion of all the players which have led them to this well-deserved recognition.

The Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins also extended heartfelt gratitude to Cricket West Indies (CWI) for their continued commitment to developing young talent in the region. He stated that their support has been instrumental in providing the athletes with the opportunity to excel on the international stage.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Sports, we wish you both continued success as you embarks on this exciting journey. Your accomplishments serve as an inspiration to all young athletes in St. Kitts and Nevis,” asserted Minister Samal Duggins.

The Men’s Academy contracts which have been given to 15 male players include:

The Women’s Academy contracts awarded to 15 female players include:

Moreover, the CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe stated that the both Male and Female Academy of Cricket West Indies are instrumental in bridging the gap between levels including, junior and senior.

He further asserted that they are adamant that both their men and women players receive the support which they require to succeed globally. He stated that these contracts are a great opportunity for all the 30 emerging players as it will play a huge role in providing them with high-performance training which will accelerate the growth of all the emerging players.
