New Delhi, India: The G20 Foreign Ministers are set to meet in New Delhi in March 2023, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. This meeting will bring together foreign ministers from the world’s largest economies. The meeting will be held in New Delhi at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation and will be hosted by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The meeting date has not been finalized, but it is expected to take place in March 2023.
Presidency of the G20 was attained by India in the month of December 2022. The final Summit has been scheduled to happen in New Delhi in September next year, witnessing the participation of 24 heads of delegations – the largest ever in G20.
According to the official statement of the government, guest countries invited by India are Bangladesh, Mauritius, Egypt, Netherlands, Oman, Nigeria, Singapore, Spain and UAE. India will host the meeting for several cities across the nation.
The G20 Foreign Ministers are expected to discuss a range of global issues, including trade, investment, the global economy, climate change, and other multilateral issues. The meeting will likely focus on the economic challenges countries face due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for international coordination to tackle them. India has been actively engaged in the G20 process since its inception and has taken part in various activities and initiatives of the grouping.
In 2019, India hosted the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan. During the Summit, Prime Minister Modi presented an eight-point agenda focusing on the key issues of global concern, including sustainable development, climate change, and digital transformation. The G20 is a group of the European Union with 19 countries, representing around 85 percent of the global GDP. It focuses on global issues, including economic growth, financial stability, energy, and climate change.
The grouping holds annual summits and foreign ministers’ meetings, which representatives from all member countries attend. At the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, the ministers are likely to discuss the global economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
