Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry suffered the assassination attack on him, cited it as a personal attack. The failed assassination attempt took place on Sunday.
PM Henry cited that, “An attempt has been made against – me personally. My life has been put in the – crosshairs.”
Following the statement, PM Henry noted, “I knew I was taking a risk. We cannot let bandits from any background, being driven by the lowest financial interests, blackmail the state.”
While talking to a media house on Monday, the prime minister cited that his armoured car was shot by gunfire when “bandits” tried to kill him during national independence day celebrations in a regional city.
As per to the reports of the local media, at least one individual died in the incident. It is yet not confirmed whether the deceased is among the armed men or not. The prime minister of the Caribbean island was already warned by the local gangs not to attend the functions in Gonaives.
Several world leaders have condemned the assassination attempt done on the Haitian Prime Minister. In the month of July, the President of Haiti, Jovenel Moise, was killed in an assassination at his own residence.
So far, numerous suspects have been arrested in the case, but no strong actions have been taken for the murderers of President Moise. Among the several cooked up stories, some pieces of evidence showed that PM Henry was also involved in this master plan, as geo-locations showed him talking to the main suspect of the president’ assassination.
