Guyana: Driver arrested for possessing narcotics, netizens raise concerns
The driver of the car of Guyana was arrested for the offence of possessing narcotics. The apprehension of the suspect was conducted during the patrolling exercise conducted by the officials.

Georgetown, Guyana: The driver of the car was arrested for the offence of possessing narcotics. The apprehension of the suspect was conducted during the patrolling exercise conducted by the officials.
As per the details shared by the officers, they were on patrol duty when they observed a Gray Nissan Sylphy tinted motor. The car was reported to proceed south along the UG access road. Therefore, the higher-ranked officers stopped the car in order to conduct a search of the vehicle.
While conducting the search, the officers found several transparent zip-lock bags, the bags contained cocaine. Subsequently, the authorities arrested the suspect and took him to Turkeyen Police Station where he was placed into custody.
The name and residence of the suspect have not been disclosed yet by the authorities. However, the officials have promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter to get the culprit put behind bars and punished for the offence he committed.
Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and reacted to the news by giving their views and opinions.
One person with a Facebook account Drew Sloan commented “What is going on in our country people are just doing anything for survival and don’t care about freedom so sad.”
Another person with a Facebook handle Drew Sloan commented the following “Survival, but destroying others. Mothers lost their sons. Children losing fathers. Families torn apart. The community has gangs. while just a few benefits. Think twice go plant we will pepper it’s expensive. care for others society and the future”.
“We need to keep these things off the street it is destroying our younger generation,” wrote Lionel Anthony David.
The residents have expressed their concerns regarding increasing cases of drug smuggling and have asked the administration to take stringent measures, to ensure a safe environment for the youth of the country.
The administration has promised to implement measures which can reduce the consumption of drugs and prevent youth from the upcoming hardships they can face due to it.
