Additionally, the Government of Saint Lucia, led by Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, paid approximately $15,05 for every 20 LBS cylinder of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) to its consumers in 2023.

It is to be noted that the Government of Saint Lucia has shared this update through their official social media handle (Facebook).

Notably, the Government contributed an average of $16.55 as a retail price for 22 LBS cylinders.

“In 2023, the Government of Saint Lucia, led by Prime Minister Hon. Philip J Pierre, paid an average of $15,05 for every 20lbs cylinder of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) for every consumer. And, every time you bought a 22lbs LPG cylinder, the Government contributed an average of $16.55 towards the retail price”, the Saint Lucian government stated.

Further, for the period from April 1 to December 2023, the Government is estimated to spend $8.10 million on subsidies for LPG. Noting this, these increased subsidy rates have kept the retail prices of 20 pounds and 22 pounds for LPG cylinders.

Those prices were affordable for the average Saint Lucian household, and it prevented excessive price increases.

“For the period April 1 – December 2023, the Government is projected to spend $8.10 million on subsidies for LPG. These elevated subsidy rates have successfully kept the retail prices of the 20lbs and 22lbs LPG cylinders affordable for the average Saint Lucian household and averted exorbitant price hikes”, the Government of Saint Lucia added.
