Dominica wins Windwards Super 50 Champions, breaks Saint Lucia’s 2-year winning streak
Dominica faced the defending champions, Saint Lucia in the sixth match at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground on 10th August 2024.

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica became the 2024 Windwards Super 50 Champions, defeating Saint Lucia by 36 runs. With the phenomenal performance of the team, Dominica managed to end Saint Lucia’s 2-year unbeaten streak.
Notably, Dominica faced the defending champions, Saint Lucia in the sixth match at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground on 10th August 2024. When the coin went up and fell in Saint Lucia’s favour, the host country chose to bowl first.
During the first innings of the game, Saint Lucia managed to conclude Dominica’s innings for 169 runs with 10 wickets down in just 45th over. The highest scorers for the team remained the Captain, Tyron Theophile, and the Vice Captain, Stephan Pascal, who scored 28 and 26 runs, respectively. On the other hand, Saint Lucia’s bowler Shadrack Descarte took two wickets with only 32 runs scored against him.
On the other hand, Saint Lucia batters stepped onto the crease with the hope of bringing another win on home soil. However, after 15 overs, the hosts were 90 with 6 wickets down while chasing 170. The game became a lot tighter than most of the people would have expected, and Dominica managed to make several challenges in the way of Saint Lucia’s victory.
Dominica returned home with a sense of pride as they restricted Saint Lucia to 133 runs with all wickets down in just 22.3 overs. The extraordinary bowling performance led by none other than Dominica’s, Gilon Tyson, who took 7 wickets with by giving away only 35 runs. His outstanding bowling and the entire team efforts managed to done something that no other team could.
They have tarnished Saint Lucia’s record and defeated them by 36 runs. The highest run-scorers for the host country in the 6th game remained Keon Gaston and the Vice-Captain, Ackeem Auguste, scoring 20 each in 20 and 25 balls, respectively. Both nations finished on equal points, but Dominica was crowned champion by virtue of being head-to-head.
St. Lucia’s championship fate remained no longer within their control and they failed to retain their title.
