Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit introduces U-19 men’s cricket team for Windward Islands Tournament
Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on July 6, 2022 (Wednesday), introduced the Under-19 Men’s Cricket Team of Dominica.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on July 6, 2022 (Wednesday), introduced the Under-19 Men’s Cricket Team of Dominica, which will represent the country in the Windward Islands Under 19 tournament.
The tournament has been kicked off on July 6, 2022 (Wednesday) in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean – Dominica. Each day will witness two (2) matches, each at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau and Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.
Prime Minister Skerrit took social media and informed, “Here is our U-19 Men’s Cricket Team! The Windward Islands Under 19 tournament bowls off this Wednesday, July 6, in Dominica. Two (2) matches will be played daily at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau and Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.”
Furthermore, he wished the team for their matches in the tournament and optimised to win the tournament.
He mentioned, “We wish our boys the best of luck in the tournament. Go get ’em, fellas!”
Recently, the Windsor Park Stadium witnessed international T20 cricket matches between West Indies and Bangladesh, held on July 2 and July 3, 2022. The matches were successfully hosted by the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Besides the matches, the audiences were entertained by the local entertainers, and the Stadium offered a “Carnival-like” feel.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit participated in the coin toss ceremony, during which the coin was flipped in favour of the West Indies, and the team decided to bat first.
Prime Minister took social media and wished the team of West Indies all the best. He stated, “On Saturday, I participated in the coin toss ceremony ahead of the first game at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau. WI All in!!”
The Stadium witnessed an international match after a hiatus of five years. Since 2017, no international cricket match has been played in Windsor Stadium.
