COVID-19: St Lucia reports 42 new cases and two deaths

                                                    Castries, St Lucia: As of February 10, 2022, Thursday, the nation reported 42 new cases of COVID-19, according to the statics shared by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs. The samples were collected between February 7 and February 9; of total samples, around 13.59 percent have tested positive for the virus.
Around 309 samples were collected on the previous day (Wednesday); of these, 219 were from the Ezra Long Laboratory, remaining 90 were from the Laboratory Services and Consultations Limited.
Since the pandemic began, the nation has reported around 21,873 COVID-19 cases.
According to the official data, around 189 people have been recovered from the virus and were discharged.
To date, the number of active cases in the country is 1,633.
There are around 47 patients admitted to the hospital because of the virus; of these, one is seeking treatment in intensive care.
Till now, the number of deaths reported in the nation is around 346, of which 263 are due to COVID, and 83 are COVID-related. However, the ministry of health has reported two new COVID-19 deaths as well as two COVID-19 related deaths.
In St Lucia, as many as 51,690 people have been fully vaccinated, and around 5,856 are partially vaccinated. More than 6,503 people have received the booster shot.
In the nation, till February 9, 28.0 percent of people had taken the vaccination. According to the official data, 1.09 lakh doses have been administrated in St Lucia.
For now, the island country has been giving three vaccines against COVID-19, BioNTech, Pfizer vaccine; Johnson & Johnson vaccine; and Oxford, AstraZeneca vaccine. As of February 10, the number of people who received 1st Dose AstraZeneca Vaccination is 37,705, and 2nd Dose Vaccination is 34,491. Whereas, 1st Dose of Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccination is administrated by 19,528, and 16,842 people have administrated 2nd dose.
