Central Statics Office to announce Population and Housing Census 2021 for 2022

Dominica: The Central Statics Office has announced that the Population and Housing Census 2021 of the Caribbean island will be released in 2022. The office has informed that the recruitment for enumerators to conduct the 2021 National Census has been commenced.

The Statics Office further stated that every facet of normality had been affected since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the execution of the national census in 2021, as mandated by the law, couldn’t have been a reality.

Nevertheless, due to the importance of such an activity, the government of Dominica and the Central Statistics are pushing ahead and are now accepting applications for enumerators, as it is stated in the government notices such as:

  • If you are confident?
  • If you are courteous?
  • If you patient and willing to go the extra mile?

This shows that the candidate interested in applying must have qualities like – confidence, courteousness and patience.

“So, people could visit www.Stats.gov.dm/censusapp/ and on their Facebook page @The Central Statistics Office of Dominica or call 2663405 for assistance,” the official census notification informed.

The Office has been located on the 1st floor of the Financial Centre, Kennedy Ave, Roseau Central Valley. The official will only be available during the regular working hours.

Furthermore, the government has also shared an update on the MARIGOT Village Council By-Election. It stated, “The residents of the region are informed that on Thursday, March 17, 2022, the under-mentioned candidates were nominated to contest the Marigot Village Council By-Election schedules on April 6, 2022 (Wednesday).”

The nominated candidates are:

1.) Beulah Claire Bedminster
2.) Josh Jahmal Doresette
3.) Michael “Passy” Pascal

As per the official notice, the voting will commence at 8 AM and close at 5 PM on the same day.

The authorities of the Marigot have urged the residents of the community to exercise their right to vote.
