Roseau: “60,000-gallon water tank is ready to use,” informs PM Skerrit as he surveys development

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit visited the Roseau Central Valley Constituency on March 17, 2022 (Thursday), to survey the development work in the region.

During this visit, PM Skerrit was accompanied by Parliamentary Representative Dr Irving McIntyre and other members of the Cabinet.

He outlined that the 60,000-gallon water tank is completed under the US$2.6 million Morne Prosper Water Supply Project. This project was funded by the Basic Needs Trust Fund, the Government of Dominica and Dominica Water and Sewerage Company Limited (DOWASCO).

While sharing more details, Prime Minister stated that the government would also give attention to the construction of Overbridge Road, which would create greater access for farmers, and rehabilitate a section of road adjacent to the playing field.

PM Skerrit further notified that the Dominican government has worked to upgrade the Copthall main road and prevent the area from flooding; two drains were constructed.

He further shared an update about the completion of the rehabilitation design of the Casso Road, which would link the Copthall to Wotten Waven. PM also notified that the government is “developing the concept for a new vending facility in Wotten Waven to improve the visitor experience and boost trade”.

He also updated about the construction would in Trafalgar and notified that authorities would embark on a housing initiative to provide safe, resilient shelter for residents and improve sporting facilities, including the basketball court and playing field in Lily Valley.

The authority has been looking for an appropriate construction site for building a multi-purpose community centre in Laudat, PM Skerrit notified.

He concluded, “We also made a quick stop in Fond Canine to view ongoing works on the Cabanis Wall”.

PM Skerrit further shared updates on the construction of the indoor basketball facility in the constituency.

The Dominican PM also mentioned that the time did not visit other constituencies due to shortage of time, assured that he and his team will visit the remaining constituencies in the upcoming weeks.
