Ramesh Balgobin, a 26-year-old was brutally beaten and robbed on Saturday, November 4, 2023 after he left a famous hotel at Parika, East Bank Essequibo, Guyana.
The young boy is a resident of Lot 170 West Meter-Meer-Zorg in West Coast Demerara in Guyana. The incident took place between 12:00 and 1:00 pm.
Balgobin’s sister, Vanita Balgobin informed news channels that her brother was with his uncle when they went to the hotel “A Pink Building” at the Parika Stelling.
It is to be noted that the 26-year-old and his mamoo were separated, as his mamoo was heading towards the opposite direction and Balgobin was moving to the front.
After some time, he witnessed that their mamoo was not there.
She gave a complete description of the incident in which Ramesh was brutally beaten by four men who hit Balgobin to his head, due to which he fell to the ground and continued beating him.
Despite so many injuries, he somehow managed to get up and run away from the attackers. He then entered the bus, which was parked nearby.
Her sister added that in order to save himself from the attack, his brother hid himself in the bus. However, the accused took his motorcycle and the rest of his belongings which he had left there.
The man was so badly beaten that he was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was examined properly and was given treatment and tend to the injuries sustained during the assault.
Moreover, the matter was reported to the police but officials were not able to collect any information regarding the case.
Such cases are not new in Guyana, as a few weeks ago, Guyana witnessed a brutal attack on a businessman who robbed him and caused him severe injuries.
The victim was recognised as Simon Wahid, a 45-year-old resident of Mon, Repos. He was dropping his friend at her house when he was attacked.
He was not just brutally attacked but also robbed. The attackers took the following things from the victim:
– $140,000 in cash
– Two cheques
– One of his phones
– Important documents
A victim was so badly injured that he had to undergo surgery.
The alarming rate at which crimes are being committed in the nation is a major issue for authorities as public pressure is mounting.
