CPL 2022: The Saint Lucia Kings met the Jamaica Tallawahs in the ninth match of the tournament, which was hosted at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet. This is the second match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2022) played in Saint Lucia.
The Saint Lucia Kings defeated the Jamaica Tallawahs by two wickets with only one ball remaining in the match. The kings had won the toss at the start of the game and had elected to field first.
The Tallawahs managed to put an impressive score on the scoreboard for the Kings to change, mainly owing to the exceptional innings by Raymond Reifer. He placed a total of 62 runs on the scoreboard, having played 41 balls. His time at the crease saw some outstanding batting, wherein he hit four fours and as many sixes.
The rest of the team played to support Reifer’s phenomenal innings. However, none of them was able to contribute more than 20 individual runs to the scoreboard. Imad Wasim scored 20 runs off of 23 balls.
In a similar fashion, The Saint Lucia Kings’ star batsman put a total of 62 runs on the scoreboard off of 39 balls before Fabien Allen caught his delivery and sent him back to the Pavillion.
The second best among the kings was Roshon Primus, who scored 22 runs on the scoreboard. Tim David and David Wiese (not out at the end of the game) out a combined total of 40 runs on the scoreboard,
It was a neck-to-neck contest between the two teams. However, at the end of the match, the Saint Lucia Kings were able to snatch their victory out of the hands of the Jamaica Tallawahs with only one ball left to be played. The kings will thus be advancing further in the CPL 2022
On the other hand, The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) suffered a humiliating 80-run defeat under the Duckworth-Lewis method against Barbados Royals on wednesday. There were multiple rain delays during the match before the it ended prematurely.
At the time, TKR were struggling on 51/7 having played eight overs, chasing a mammoth 195 for victory.
After this victory, the Royals have advanced another step into the CPL 2022 Tournament
