Pakistan defeated West Indies Women A by 8 wickets in the final of the T20 tri-series at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday, 8th November 2023.

Pakistan A bowling:

The Skipper, Rameen Shamim and off-spinner, Omaima Sohail managed to take two wickets, giving away 17 runs each.

Anosha Nasir and Saima Malik took 1 wicket each at a rate of 21 and 15 runs respectively.

West Indies A batting:

The opener, Qiana Joseph was the highest run scorer from West Indies side who scored 35 runs in 39 balls with 4 fours.

The Captain, Rashada Williams scored 18 runs in 26 deliveries with one boundary at a strike rate of 69.23. Shakiba Gajnabi who got retired hurt initially but decided to came back to the crease after the first wicket fell. However, she couldn’t perform at her best and got bowled by Saima Malik by making a contribution of only 10 runs.

The West Indies Women A team struggled a lot to score against Pakistan’s stronger spin attack. Therefore, West Indies could score only 97 runs while losing 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Pakistan A batting:

West indies A team gave a very easy target to their opposition. Pakistan Women A team chased this target in just 15.5 overs with only two wickets down.

The openers were not able to form a partnership as Eyman Fatima lost her wicket at the initial stage of the inning by scoring only 5 runs in 11 balls.

However, Shawaal Zulfiqar led her team towards a victory by playing a crucial knock of 39 runs in 38 balls, including four boundaries.

Gull Feroza contributed 23 runs in 23 deliveries with 3 fours to the team.

Omaima Sohail scored 20 runs in 23 balls with one boundary and remained unbeaten.

West Indies A bowling:

Cherry–Ann Fraser and Qiana Joseph, they both took 1 wicket each by giving away 14 and 19 runs respectively.

Moreover, West Indies A team were not able to show their potential and play well for their team, losing by 8 wickets. However, West Indies had won this series by 2-1 points.

Also, this was the first time that the West Indies Women A team visited Pakistan for an extended tour.
