Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, addressed the nation on current COVID-19 cases on the island.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister outlined the government’s plan of action on distributing vaccines in the nation and the restriction plan of COVID-19.

Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit stated that Dominica couldn’t afford a proper shutdown at this time as it will be difficult to restore the economy. The shutdown of Dominica can force a large number of citizens to become poor again.

Prime Minister confirmed that there would be proper checking and testing of tourists will be done at the entrance of the island. 

He advised the citizen of Dominica to discourage the illegal entrance of people as it holds the possibility of community transmission. Following protocols can make room for no spread of the virus.

Furthermore, he noted that By April government of Dominica will get enough doses of vaccine that can be garnered by every adult in the nation.

Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, shares about the successful clinical trials done by countries like China, the US, UK, Cuba, and India.

Prime Minister seeks vaccine doses from these countries and to get COVAX facility. The government of Dominica is seeking additional doses of vaccine by the end of August, which will cover enough population.

Furthermore, Prime Minister noted that “As a citizen, we can limit this coronavirus, and there are no shortcuts; we have to follow the discipline and to keep our vigilance.”

He insisted on following the fundamental provisions to restrict the expansion. He also emphasized grief for the worse situation of sister islands and said under CARICOM, “we all are one Caribbean family.”

In the last Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, stated, “We are the ones who even in the darkest night always look forward to sunrise in the morning, we are the people of faith, and we still believe that joy will come tomorrow.”
