Trinidad and Tobago registers 190 new COVID-19 cases

7 dead, 4 were elderly male,3 elderly female

Barbados log 183 fresh COVID-19 cases on island

Port of Spain: 190 new COVID-19  positive cases reported in Trinidad and Tobago. According to the statistics T&T experienced 7 deaths due to COVID-19 virus. The stats shows the constant positivity rate that country has been experiencing.

Till present total of 2,88,131 tests have been conducted in Trinidad and Tobago at both public and private facilities. In these total tests, 41,866 confirmed cases till present, out of which 34,508 have been  recovered.

The total number of positive patients in Trinidad and Tobago had reached 6,178 in this 190 are new cases that had been reported recently in the last 24 hrs.

The hospitals have been occupied by 314 patients at present in T&T. 1,180 patients have also died due to the COVID-19 virus in the country.

Till 4 pm 4,52,509 patients have been given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines out of these vaccinated persons 111,497 got AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine, 3,40,812 got Sinopharm vaccine and 200 doses of Pfizer, 20 Johnson & Johnson. 

Thus 308,205 out of the total population got fully vaccinated.

42 patients have been discharged from the public health facilities, and 115 have been recovered community cases. Recovered community cases are categorised in them those who have been infected by COVID-19 virus, and they were in self-isolation, and after reaching the discharge, criteria had been released from self-isolation.

7 additional death have also been reported on Saturday. From the 7 dead, 4 were elderly male,3 elderly female and 0 middle-aged male, 0 middle-aged female, 0 young adult male, 0 young adult females 

The government of Trinidad and Tobago had reopen its border for travellers from July 17 but also warned that the non-vaccinated people would not be allowed to enter the country.

Trinidad and Tobago would be receiving the shipment of 82,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. This shipment is coming from Canada. Canadian Minister of International Development Karina Gould gave this updation on the vaccine doses.

The donation of 305,370 WHO-approved BioNTech vaccines from the US arrived in TT at 7.58 am on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said in July that the vaccines will be administered to secondary school students first as the Pfizer vaccine is the only one that is WHO-approved for use in children ages 12-17.
