St Kitts and Nevis: PM Harris, DPM Richards, Premier Brantley meet to discuss future strategies

St Kitts and Nevis: The three prominent leaders of Team Unity Administration – Prime Minister and Leader of the People’s Labour Party (PLP) – Dr Timothy Harris, Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) – Shawn Richards, and Premier of Nevis, Foreign Affairs Minister in the Federal Government of St Kitts and Nevis and Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) – Mark Brantley, met with each other on April 6, 2022 (Wednesday).

The meeting was conducted at the Cabinet Room, Government Headquarters in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis.

All three leaders participated actively and exchanged their political views on the current state of the coalition. All three political leaders also discussed the forward strategies to be followed by the political parties.

As per the sources associated with the government, the meeting was frank but slightly cordial. The meeting was just a framework for further discussions. The Government of St Kitts & Nevis has informed that the next tripartite “State of Team Unity” meeting will be conducted on April 14, 2022 (Thursday).

Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for April 4, 2022 (Monday), but because of the sudden passing of the former Premier of Nevis – Vance Amory, the meeting was rescheduled to April 6, 2022.

This decision was taken by all three ministries – PM Harris, DPM Richards, and Premier Brantley, during a meeting. The information was shared by Brantley and Richards through an official press release.

The release stated, “Due to the sudden passing of Vance Amory, former Cabinet colleague and former Premier of Nevis, we communicated with the Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris that it would be appropriate to delay the tripartite meeting of heads of political parties scheduled for today until (April 6) Wednesday of this week as a mark of respect to Vance Amory, a founding member of Team Unity.”
