Saint Lucia: Sports Ministry announces return of National Sports Awards 2023
Saint Lucia: The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has announced the return of the annual National Sports Awards in 2023.

Saint Lucia: The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has announced the return of the annual National Sports Awards in 2023. The Awards will be held on Saturday, February 18 2023, at the Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa, commencing at 7:00 pm.
As per the update by the sports ministry, it will appoint a five-member judging committee, which will shortlist the nominees. The event will be hosted after two years of break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which stopped the world and social events were not happening.
While announcing the return of the awards, the ministry also thanked and acknowledged the associations, which has contributed in the advancement and growth of the sports in the nation. The ministry lauded the associations for their timely submissions between the period of January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022.
The associations were as follows:
1. Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union
2. Volleyball Saint Lucia
3. Saint Lucia Golf Association
4. Saint Lucia National Darts Association
5. Saint Lucia Athletics Association
6. Saint Lucia National Table Tennis Association
7. Saint Lucia National Cricket Association
8. Saint Lucia National Netball Association
9. Karate-Do Federation Saint Lucia
10. Saint Lucia Amateur Boxing Association
11. Saint Lucia Basketball Federation
12. Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation
The government of Saint Lucia, along with the ministry of sports, has been taking multiple steps for the development of the sector. The government has been announcing plans to re-develop and re-build different athletic fields, playgrounds to provide world-class sporting platform to the youth of the country. It has always encouraged the athletes by hosting different sporting camps, offering detailed knowledge about the game.
Various tournaments and games are organised by the authorities to make sure that the skilled youth is engaged in learning new skills and techniques about the game.
