Saint Lucia: Joseph Baden Allian, the former Member of Parliament of Soufriere, bid goodbye to the world on December 26, 2022, at the age of 81. After hearing this news, Saint Lucia is in a wave of grief.
Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, expressed his grief on the passing of Baden Allain. PM Pierre conveyed his condolences on social media and stated, “My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Joseph Baden Allain.”
He furthermore outlined, “Joe served his community and his country admirably in his official capacities as MP for Soufriere/ Fond St. Jacques and Speaker of the House of Assembly. As an ordinary citizen, he continued his service to the people and the development of his country with the same enthusiasm and passion.”
PM Pierre expressed his gratitude toward Baden for guiding him. “I will be grateful forever for all that you shared with me, the books, the laughter and the advice. Sleep well, my friend. May his soul rest in peace,” he asserted.
Many Saint Lucians took the comment section of the post and expressed grief and sorrow on the passing of Joseph Baden Allian. One of the users stated, “God’s strength to all his love ones,” while another one said, “Sincere condolences to the family of Mr Baden Allain. May he rest in perfect peace.” The third user mentioned, “Extending deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr Allain. May he rest in eternal peace.”
Baden Allian was born in Soufriere on May 21, 1941. He has provided service as Magistrate, Second Judicial District, Saint Lucia, between 1974 and 1976; Crown Counsel, Trinidad & Tobago, between 1976 and 1978; and Private Practice for a very long time.
Along with this, he has also contributed towards the politics of Saint Lucia. He served as Saint Lucia Labour Party Secretary between 1986 and 1987 and was elected Member of the House of Assembly, Saint Lucia, from 1987 to 1992.
