Saint Lucia marks 25% surge in tourism arrivals in August 2024
Saint Lucia Tourism Authority also shed light on the significant contribution of the airline services.

Saint Lucia witnessed a huge boost in tourism arrivals in August 2024, marking a surge of 27% in comparison to the last year of the same period. The country welcomed around 34,895 stay-over arrivals, which indicates the eighth consecutive month-on-month growth in 2024.
As per the details unveiled by the tourism authority of Saint Lucia, the US market has also played a huge role in this massive growth experienced by the island nation. As, the country recorded a remarkable 44% increase in the arrival of visitors from US compared to August 2023.
The tourism authority noted that this surge in arrivals of the visitors coincides with a 53% increase in seats available from the US market. They also credited the expansion of the services by the American Airlines from Charlotte and Miami, which has brought large number of passengers to the country, enhancing air connectivity and boosting their tourism sector.
These figures indicated by Saint Lucia’s Tourism Authority have also surpassed the growth witnessed by the country over the same period in 2019, a key benchmark tourism year before the pandemic.
The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority also shed light on the significant contribution of the airline services including interCaribbean, Air Adelphi, and Sunrise Airways which have played a key role in targeting large number of visitors from the Caribbean region.
This expansion of the services by the Caribbean based airlines and direct airlift from Antigua, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Jamaica has resulted in marking a 29% increase in the arrival of visitors year-over-year.
The Tourism Authority also highlighted the influx of visitors experienced by them by hosting the Goodwill Swimming Championships in August. This championship brought several participants as well as their supporters from across the Caribbean, marking a substantial growth in the arrival of stay-over visitors.
While emphasising on this growth, the tourism stakeholders expressed optimism and ensured to continue to make every possible effort with a vision to make Saint Lucia, the premier destination for all travellers.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Louis E.A. Lewis reiterated their commitment to implementing innovative strategies with a vision to elevate the visitors experience and attract large number of travellers to the country.
He also mentioned about the new role undertaken by Olympic Medalist, Julien Alfred, as a Tourism Ambassador and added, that it will play a significant role in making Saint Lucia, a top choice for all the visitors.
